Genuine Faith

Is there a such thing as Genuine Faith? What is it and how do you reveal that fact that you have a Genuine Faith? According to the dictionary they mean...
Genuine -  truly what something is said to be; authentic.
Faith - complete trust or confidence in something or someone
In my devotional today it says that God is "giving me the JOY of genuine faith." But how is the possible? According to 1 Peter 1:6-7, it says,
There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while.
These trials will show that your faith is genuine."

It goes on to say how many bad things happen throughout life. The low times, the sad times, the times when you feel not wanted or loved, etc. It talks about how we think "joy and sorrow are mutually exclusive. But as you live in me, you're discovering that great sorrow actually creates the capacity for deeper joy." Going through all the tough times in life is what brings you close to God - yes you may hear that often but in all honesty there are many reasons to that with many explanations. If you honestly keep your trust and faith in God through hard times, no matter what type of trial it is, you become stronger and able to move forward with life and especially your life and relationship with God.

"Faith moves from being an intellectual exercise to a personal adventure."

What is your take on Genuine Faith?
